From 1956, Ella and Louis and the Oscar Peterson Quartet work beautifully together on one of the sweetest songs ever written, "Nearness Of You". The song was composed in 1938 by Hoagy Carmichael and Ned Washington and Glenn Miller's Orchestra had the first hit with it.

  • @thereisnospoon34 There are several available but I would suggest you go to amazon.com and search for "Ella and Louis" and see which one has the "Nearness Of You" on it. Not sure how many you will find.

  • @thereisnospoon34 There is one named "Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong for Lovers", and this is the first song. It'd be a good choice...

  • Ella Fitzgerald has the voice of an Angel!!!! She is awesome!....and Louis Armstrong isn't too bad himself! Wonderful version of this song!

  • After listening to this kind of music, it's kind of hard to justify the crap they call music now. With few exceptions, this far excels anything I could ever force myself to listen to currently. Thank you angel Ella for the velvet that is your voice, now and forever.

  • this relaxes me beyond relief

  • @Nocaro thanks you.

  • i adore it :) <3

  • @drjazzmd Everyone in the room probably just exhaled, looked at each other, with a twinkle in their eyes, fully aware that they'd just recorded an instant classic with two of the greatest of all time.:)

  • Utter and complete six star perfection - it just does not get any better than this. Ella and Louis and Oscar Peterson, I sometimes wonder how they all felt after the last note had been played and recorded.
