From the deepest dephts of german chatting-up youth work comes this Jimi Hendrix tribute. It's writer, Alfred Flury, founder of a "No Drugs" Organisation, here mourns the tragic death of one of the greatest musicians of all time - in his very special way... you'll see.

Coming in contact with many important people throughout his life, like the Stones, Katja Ebstein and also many german politicians and celebrities of his days, Flurys hymn to Hendrix comes further into context.
He really could have been part of his life, in the song he claims he knew Jimi. nevertheless Hendrix surely was part of the life of the youth he had steady contact to.

This song could be seen as a try to reach out to the youths who are depressed about the death of their idol and get them to reflect the reasons of his death while honoring him at the same time - rather then committing suicide because their parents and the church condemn a drug-dead rockstar.

He may really have saved a live by this?!
I wouldn't bet on that, though -...

In a smoldering cleric controversy of his time, whether to use new media for the church's work or not, this pop song attempt surely was the most progressive catholic position that was out there - maybe like a german version of latin american "liberation theology" of these days, if you will. Last, but not least: one other person he once met was swizz UFO-bestseller-author Erich von Däniken - this somehow completes the puzzle, doesn't it? No? Then listen again to the song and read the text of the monologue... ;-)

  • That's weird, what is it? A posthumous tribute come moral warning or something?

  • @flaxonx3 reading the description might help to answer your question ;-) but i guess you're right - my earlier assumption regarding cbfalls comment also explains a bit perhaps.

  • What a great tribute song to a rock god guitarist!

  • @cbfall thanks, I guess you could say it's the german conservative way of saying: "you did the wrong thing but you did it quite good"... anyway, I should fill a small gap in Hendrix-related posts on the tube.

  • @AldousLeary admit I didn't read the description, interesting post as it captures a reaction from that time that's not coming from Britain or America. There's a genuineness to it not tainted or influenced by the passing of time.

  • It even seems to have some Motown influences...

  • cool
