I walked through the occupied park just to give a visceral feel of what is going on there. It's getting cold and wet, yet folks seemed resolute. The level of organization in the chaos is impressive. There is a library, collections of books that you are allowed to take to read, or leave books to allow others to read. There is a sign making area, with paints, cardboard, people making signs constantly. There is a kitchen area with an amazing amount of food that they are just handing out. They have daily status announcements on whiteboards, where they track the spread of the movement, the forecast for the day, the amount of money raised so far (35k).
The cops surround the park and looked a bit bored today.
Deliveries of food streamed in from time to time.
There was a technology area, with rats nests of wires and cords... all running from a generator. Wireless internet signal comes from ??? I noticed a cafe across the street was advertising free wifi.
Music, free hugs, old folks, young folks... I admire the courage of those that are sleeping there under tarps. It's getting cold.
At 2:28 there is a police mobile observation post! Where do they think they are? In Vietnam?...
