I made this footage on my trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History to see a collection of installation art called "The Bright Beneath: The Luminous Art of Shih Chieh Huang" (yes, an ART exhibit at the NATURAL HISTORY museum). It was inspired by bioluminescent, deep-sea life, both plants and animals.
From the Smithsonian Website
"The Bright Beneath: The Luminous Art of Shih Chieh Huang.
The artwork of Shih Chieh Huang explores the unusual evolutionary adaptations undertaken by the mysterious, deep ocean creatures residing in conditions inhospitable for humans. During Huang's time as a Smithsonian artist research fellow, he explored the bioluminescent marine organisms that inspired this art installation. His creations, with their lights, computer parts, and plastic-tube appendages, evoke a sense of wonder and curiosity as they "float" in the darkness of the gallery.
Location: Sant Ocean Hall's Ocean Focus Gallery, 1st Floor, Center"
