Bob Leonard was the Big Ten player of the year, leading his Indiana University Hoosiers to the title over the Kansas Jayhawks in Kansas City, MO. The Indiana University squad, known as the Hurrying Hoosiers for their fast paced play on the court, was led by head coach Branch McCracken. The Kansas Jayhawks were led by honored coach Fog Allen.
