I know..... but what you're supposed to focus on ie literally look at....is the contraction of the soleus and the gastroc.....plantar flexion happens as a result of that... It's what examiners look at anyway... as in, they watch if you're looking at the contraction of the muscles...rather than watching the foot go into plantar flexion....

@curlynavie you look at both, as in the quadriceps reflex, you place one hand on the quadriceps group and also look for the lower leg to swing foward. Also, any contraction of the gastrocnemius is going to yield plantar flexion
