D-Star is actually open source. The Ambe codec that it uses is not.

As a ham who has put up many wire antennas using pulleys and other methods, you have a problem using those black nylon ty-wraps to support the loop. Unless U/V resitant, they will last about 1 year out in the sun and will become brittle and break.
