People who call football talkback shows are often predictable in their characteristics. The Coodabeens created a series of these characters for their Talkback With Tony segment.
Digger - who has followed Collingwood for 87..97..120 years, a very long time, and knows that the magpies never get a fair go from the umpires.
Tiny Timmy from Thomastown who is a big Craig Starcevich fan but has family problems.
Massive Merv from Moorabbin who is constantly worried about the dangerously under weight Plugger Lockett.
Cliff from Clematis who always hears about rumours from someone who knows someone.
Peter from Peterborough, an old money Melbourne supporter who can solve all problems with more discipline.
Wally from Wantirna who is fascinated by useless statistics.
Don from Davenport who has trouble interpreting some of the lingo used by commentators.
Jock from Jolimont who finds a Scottish connection to situations, a big fan of Donald McDonald.
Ivan from Ivanhoe
Guru Bob who analysed matches each week with a Hindu perspective and tried to flog his latest book, such as The Half Back Flanker From Sri Lanka and The Big Wet In West Tibet.

Delightful find! About 20 years ago I first heard the Couldabeens Talkback and was hysterical. Do we get to hear Whispering Jack Farnham?

i remember driving with my dad into the footy in the early 90s to watch the reserves, and listening to the Coodabeen Champions on 3AW on the way. I was only young, but it always made me laugh! Great memories.
