Dude,
You need a wire stripper. Go into Home Depot and ask in the electrical tools department for
a wire stripper. Get one they are handy in situaltions like this.

This freaking works! I have the most dumbass nonconformist charger cable for a Sony Cybershot DSC-p9 that I can't find anywhere. Just took out the battery, soldered thicker contacts onto the exposed usb wires for a better ground (shorts are bad). Gave it a 15min test charge. Blam camera turns on.
