Do you feed them during hibernation?
If so, how often?
Highflyer2250 1 year ago
@Highflyer2250 During hibernation never. They're so cold anyway that their metabolism comes down to a slow halt, and I imagine they aren't hungry. They expend so little energy during this time of deep cold, so they have what they need to make it through hibernation.

This of course may be a different story when ants are kept in heat while they are hibernating, which is why we always encourage that all temperate regional ants are hibernated for a few months accordingly. Before and after hibernation are key times to feed the ants.

why do u put water in it?
choopadaflaflab 1 year ago
@choopadaflaflab The ants require humidity and moisture to drink. The test tube setups offer that, however the test tubes must be changed often the moment the cotton molds or when the water portion dries up. We sell formicaria in our store that eliminates the need for changing. The nest in which one places a queen can be her and her family's home until they outgrow it.
