just a question urm do you have to put your ants into hibernation. if it slims down the answer my queen is a lasius niger.please get bacck to me as soon as you can alsoo if they have to go into hibernation what time of year should i do it?

This of course may be a different story when ants are kept in heat while they are hibernating, which is why we always encourage that all temperate regional ants are hibernated for a few months accordingly. Before and after hibernation are key times to feed the ants.
i have a question...what happens if you DO NOT hibernate a species of ants that usually needs or is naturally hibernating in the wild? if you keep them indoors and warm while its freezing/winter outside..will they die..why is it so important to hibernate them ..you never stated why..

@choopadaflaflab The ants require humidity and moisture to drink. The test tube setups offer that, however the test tubes must be changed often the moment the cotton molds or when the water portion dries up. We sell formicaria in our store that eliminates the need for changing. The nest in which one places a queen can be her and her family's home until they outgrow it.
