Flood prevention efforts continue in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Workers at Sign Productions, a Cedar Rapids business, were sandbagging on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, as the rising Cedar River presented a threat to their operation. Update: We haven't received much help. This is nothing like Katrina-it gets cold here. We had two bad winters and a flood. Our streets are horrible and thousands of homes are untouched because there isn't any money to fix it.

I grew up in Shellsburg Iowa and I now live in Mobile, Alabama. And I hope you don't come from Iowa, and I hope even more that you don't ever show your face down South. You don't know what you're talking about. Yes, this flood is devasting. My brother, who lives in Czech Village, has completely lost his home. But it is NOTHING like Katrina. This flood is a cake walk compared to Katrina. I pray no more damage comes to CR. I hope you never have to experience something like those people did.
