This is a talk susan and I gave at Power to the Pixel 2007. Many more things have happened since then including releasing the film for free on youtube and making 50,000 dollars through a sponsorship deal in that process as well as airing the film on IFC TV, making episodes 9 to 13 and putting a creative commons license on the film to allow others to distribute it on BitTorrent.com.

I also have gone onto create Openindie.com which brings the same mapping functionality seen in this presentation to any other filmmaker.

  • I just want to say that to me, the movie was the one that appealed most. I have no clue about those v-blog's and... yeah. I was really happy to see people that think somewhat like I do, and go trough those problems thinking the same way.

I really admire you guys. Hope that you will live a great and un-boring life together, thank's for showing me a path that I may have chosen.

Keep up the good work! I will sure keep on "stalking" you. :)

  • consumers do have a choice. don't assume just cause people choose to go and see the summer blockbusters, that we're a bunch of mindless idiot masses.

  • I just gotta say, and I hate to burst anyone'es bubble, and I did enjoy the movie, but the reason distributor's didn't pick it up is cause they figured out it's not gonna make them money. I'm all for smaller productions like this succeeding, but the reality of things is different.

  • Very helpful. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the future.

  • I think I clicked numerous times on the link that donated to them at the time...maybe 8 or more bucks...not a whole lot, but I hope it helped!

  • I loved this presentation. As an aspiring film maker, it was very inspirational and full of great ideas. Although I have not even started making my movie yet, I have already started building an online identity and slowly building my audience.

    THANKS!!

  • great presentation!!! i love the idea of consumers having a choice about what comes to theatres. super revolutionary ideas for the industry, now i wish i could just find your feature length film online. i guess with the broadcast deal you had to pull it?
