CSX manifest train Q303-29 stopped at Thurmond, West Virginia while waiting for a track inspector to clear the single main between Thurmond and Sewell, West Virginia. Thurmond was once a booming coal town with its own bank and hundreds of residents when the coal was flowing to and from the mines in the area. Now, Thurmond only has a handful of residents and is park headquarters for the New River Gorge National River.
