Ares: the Spirit of Chaos

Ares (Άρης) is the god of savage warfare, which means war based on bloodlust and rage, a charicteristic of Barbarians. The Greek way of warfare was based on order and strategy, and these qualities belong to Athena, the rival of Ares. The art work is from Simon Bisley.

Many try to prevent Chaos, but without logic, they end up with a catastrophic result. No surprise then, that we see Anarchists protesting against war and then smash windows, destroy property, attack policemen and do much violence.

The song is Μπαϊντούσκα 'Baidouska', taken from Guardians of Hellenism Vol. 6 THRACE.

@crusherstoryteller....your right there are 2 different men with the same name . In all honesty I've found 3 different statues of ares 3 different men in history. But all 3 warriers for there time.

@Crusherstorytelling Well, it makes sense that Spartans would chose Ares as their "main" God since they were a city focusing on military and combat. Ares was the god of war (no, not Kratos haha) and Sparta was well-known for their stratigical and battle skills.

Actually, Ares was the official God in Sparta. The idea of having him in chains was that his manly spirit would never leave the Spartan heart and city. Athens had a statue of Athena with her wings broken for the same reason.

Comes to mention that the cult of Ares in Sparta made of Ares a different character then the view of the god in Athens.
