The flight of the Earls was a simple example of some gentrified nobility being forced to leave their country by some other gentrified nobilty, do you think O'Neill and O'Donnell gave a monkeys for the peasants who occupied 90% of the land, not really, Elizabeth knew what he was up to so it was simple decision, leave Ireland or die! Most of the peasentry of Ireland were glad to see the back of them- stop romanticising it all?
