The video is originally from Eric Prydz Vs Pink Floyd - "Proper Education" ... the brick in the toilet reduced the amount of water necessary to fill the reservoir therefore reducing the amount of water used when flushing the toilet (but making it less powerful). The brick in the freezer makes the freezer more full, containing more matter, and therefore retaining its coldness better and being more efficient. Certain about the toilet, not 100% on the freezer.

The bricks are used to save energy

Toilet = less water used because the brick takes up space which allows less water into the tank.

Freezer = bricks hold temperature very well, so the freezer will stay cooler longer which means that the fans don't have to go on as much
