Doug Baird built that fire station and his wife Betty Baird made lunches for the guys that would come to help Doug. They lived about a mile down the road. Doug said when the station was first set-up and the first fires came in, the volunteers would fight over who would drive. Hilarious! That was back in the mid 70's.

There's some old pictures of the local fire department training at the old radar station on Flickr. The firemen trained on USAF gear. It's been a long time since them days.
