thanks for the fast reply. hopefully fishing will be great this year!! never gone fishing in the great lakes or ever caught salmon/trout so i hope to catch a few this year. i will be practising catch and release mostly though

are those PENN 209 line count reels? i just picked 3 of them up for the great lakes this year. i heard they were great! what line and rods are you using? i paird the reel to shimano TDR they were cheaper side of price but they seem very sturdy for trolling..

Yes, the Brown trout fishing this year was the best I've seen in 26 years of Fishing Lake O. The Salmon was as good as it gets also!!!! Thanks for Posting

Reels are Okuma convector cv30d, very nice reels. My rigger rods are rihno indestructable rods, copper rods are Okuma copper/leadcore rods, dipsey rods are old daiwa blackwidow 9 1/2". I think the penn209 is a little slow, 3.1 ratio, but it should work ok for you.
