HYPOXIC takes the Sony HDR CX160 out skydiving and sees how the new camera works in freefall. The Optical Stabilization OIS causes flutter in head up positions. Headdown seems ok. Belly has a possible slight flutter. The integrated permanent USB cable will make it difficult to design a protective enclosure. The quality is awesome and the MIC input is a nice feature. The CX160 is bigger than the CX150.

Overall the Sony CX160 is not recommended for Skydiving, but is a nice camera for ground footage.

  • Was this video made with the steadyshot switched off?

  • @hollandnigel OIS was set off on this video but similar results occur with it on and with it set to active.

  • Is there always that circle around it??

  • @JBPMX That is caused by a wide angle lens

  • How do i Know what kind of lenses that fits this camera?

  • @Hainrich96 Any lens with a 37mm ring or adapter ring

  • Clogs go with the flip ultra HD

  • Vlogs I would go for the flip I have the black 1 for around $200 Wich has 2 hours of internal memory the white one is $100 that has a 1 hour internal memory both good and durible

  • Would this be good for Vlogs?

  • ill be sure not to use this camera *while skydiving.. haha

  • @trunk420 Yeah I thought it would be bad with the OIS on, but didn't realise it would be that bad when it was switched off, We need Sony to take a few steps back and release a cheaper Electronic steady shot model, or a decent Bloggie style camera with Wide angle and a high quality picture

  • May I ask if there are any optional ways for an external mic on this camera ?

  • How many memory card slots does the cx 160 have?
