Why are logical reasonable intelligent people like Penn Jillete and RIchard Dawkins not world leaders?

without the fantasy of god, they would just canabilse another area of logic and twist it into some vague pseudo-science.

I have my beliefs but i'm not arrogant enough to look at people who have beliefs different to mine and say "You have to stop believing in this, and believe in this." should they wish to put forth an argument on behalf of their "deity, i'm more than happy to [and often insistant on] arguing mine. I never preach. don't stoop to their level.

@jonadamich I don't necessarily agree. I think it's a real possibility. Polls show that American voters are less likely to vote for an atheist than for any other group of people. It would make perfect sense for a politician to at least givee lip service to religion in order to get elected. Whether or not that's true is anyone's guess, but it isn't that farfetched.

@dman519 I'm sorry, but that is complete bullocks. I am an atheist too, but none the less, you are making up their views to fit what you want them to be, as does religious people do moment. A tad hypocritical if I may say. I don't want to be an ass in my reply, but please don't have this mentality that Obama and Clinton are atheists but they act religious to cater to the rest of the public. That is a small minded conspiracy,it holds no water with anything they have expressed. They are religious.

@motorheadbanger90 Clinton and Obama are both incredibly intelligent and almost undoubtedly atheists (though you would never hear them admit that.) They have to dumb themselves down so that they don't put off the other half of the country even more than they already do.
