If Jack Parr didn't have Beatles on live from US how can he say Ed S show got improger credit? A black record company called Vee Jay recoreds let the Beatles go saying they had no talent & went out of business. So JP,not the only one with regret. If I woulda shoulda, that's what folks alwatys say. Chorus in Lou R tune.

@fromthesidelines 100% correct - this footage was indeed already professionally lighted, shot and edited in 1963 in newsreel fashion, and was not, as Paar claimed, just an example of him casually "sending out some camera guys to film the Beatles in 1964." Paar's show was also not the first to show The Beatles, as several other European stations beat him to the punch.

@laurif23 Actually, the Beatles never owned all of their publishing. 50% was owned by a man named Dick James. Later, 25% was sold on the London Stock Exchange, leaving John and Paul with 12.5% each. In 1969 James sold his shares to Lew Grade who also bought up the public stock. Both John and Paul needed quick cash (because of the Apple fiasco) so they also agreed to sell their Northern Songs shares to Grand's ATV corporation.

Paar ran the clip on his prime time weekly show which he began after leaving "Tonight Show" in 1962. "The Jack Paar Program" ran from September 1962 through May 1965.

@N9BJJ Jack Paar; he hosted "The Tonight Show" on NBC before Johnny Carson took over in 1962.

The Beatles sold their publishing rights early on. They were bought by Sire Lew Grade. When they came up for auction again, Michael Jackson out bid the remaining Beatles, namely Paul and Yoko for the Lennon/McCartney right
Lew Grade had a lot to do with Gerry Andersons supermarionation series too.
