What happens when you hit the bear's belly? How many points do you get for that shot?

Perhaps the bear-shooting stage in Sega's "Carnival" (1980) was a nod to this game -- when you shoot a bear, it lets out a "groan" sound and changes direction (but in the video game, it speeds up each time it is shot.)

I almost can't believe that there is a vid of one of these machines ... when my alcoholic step-father took me to the locals bars in the 50's ('coz my mom thought he was working and he was really out making shady deals and took me along so she thought he was "Training" me, I was just a bitty kid and didn't know shit) I would play this game.

The bear's stomach just another lens that points at the same photocell as the two lenses on the sides. The photocell takes up most of the bear's body. As a result, there is no extra score when shot in the belly.
Operators were supplied with a black card that mounts on the photocell base. It can be used to make the game more difficult by shielding the lens in the stomach. Good shots were able to make the bear dance in place by repeatedly shooting in the stomach. The card prevented this abuse
