One of the most bizarre opening scenes of any of the Merrie Melodies cartoons. Porky is working as the projection room manager of a local theatre. Hes closing up for the night when out of nowhere a trained African Pygmy ant in a cage that wasnt there when Porky first walked by, beckons to him from behind. The ant silently requests that Porky open the cage door, and when he does, thats when the fun begins. Enjoy! Released on 22 November 1941.

Porky doesn't remember the ant from "Porky's Ant".

@NewYorkS4U The colorized version was done from the same Koreans that also worked with the black-and-white Popeye cartoons. The opening/closing graphics were from 1957. The animations were terrible and the color was not on par.

@bigdogonnet Yes, it does. While the short was released in 1941, it was colorized in 1967, and not very good, either.

Doesn't the roman numeral look like 1967 to you?

That edit of the dynamite stick exploding implied that it was simply blown back into its cage instead of leaving him in blackface.

This is not the original color scheme for this cartoon. I don't know what it is, but this is an edited version: Some shots freeze frame, a dynamite stick would be red, not gray, and the blackout ending is red instead of black. This is how Nickelodeon aired it. When the ant gets free, why does it still hang around the theater? It's free, but doesn't explore.
