I'm trying to decide between an MPC 1000 or Ableton 8. If you had to have one to sequence and compose, what would it be.

Ableton Live 8 all the way. The 1000 is pretty old and doesnt have some of the newer features that the 2500XL or 4000 or 5000 have. I think youll appreciate the ability to utilize VSTs as well, not to mention exceptional audio editing inside the application!

Yeah man, the Laptop REALLY helps. Live 7 ROCKS! I recommend demoing it out for sure!

Thanks for the advice man. I think I'll just get the MPC second. My Karma needs an MPC I think, but Ableton 8 is so Crazy! Groove quantize and all. But MPC's have great timing and sound. LINN DRUM 2 is coming soon also. Thanks dude.
