During his All-Star "State of the League" press conference, Commissioner David Stern proclaimed that the Finals MVP award will now be named for Bill Russell.

  • Russell won in 1957...1959...1960...1961...19­62...1963...1964...1965...1966­...1968...1969...won 2 NCAA championships back to back...and a gold medal as the captain of the Olympic

    basketball team..the greatest winner in the history of sports!!!
