The "Vega Caucus" on May 17 was the inaugural first show of Season Two of VegaEstates. This group show curated by Roxane Hopper and Julie Rudder showcased the work of twenty Chicago artists by recontextualizing each piece into a larger, non-linear narrative relayed from the garage, through the small outdoor social space (here the pinata hung 15 ft in the air tethered to the pulley) and into the basement. We want to thank everyone who submitted work and everyone who came out that night despite the heavy rains. This video, "Caucus Pinata" is a quick piece to profile the night's final lunacy as articulated through Lauren Anderson's dead horse pinata. By this point in the evening the rain was at its fullest, the beer was gone, but our spirits were unwavered. Nothing like beating a dead horse with the rain can hide your tears. For photos and text regarding the rest of the show and the great work involved, please visit our website at vegaestatespresents.com. Thanks everybody!
