  • The worst part of the Cash For Clunkers, besides the taxpayer dollars wasted, is the fact that lower income families who go to work, or take someone for frequent medical care, (it happens; I know 1st hand) could use an inexpensive car for cummuting. I know I can not afford a new car and I work 50-70 hrs/wk. My wife as well, so saving these vehicles for less fortunate would have been a better solution.

  • @Fordman516595 This was my VERY first thought when we started to do these! Many of them would have been great cheap cars and trucks.

  • Yeah i understand that, you gotta do what you gotta do...i just dont know which is worse, the people that came up with the idea or the people who gave up theyre cars

  • @stvenpawley16 Like many people who trade in their car or truck, they think it is either to much to fix or is to unreliable. They would end up paying retail for parts and labor. That makes it not worth fixing. When the dealership gets it they pay the techs wage (most of the time 1/5th the cost) and cost on parts. This will generally make it cost effective to repair. It gets fixed and resold as a good reliable car. This program stopped that. It was a bad program from start to finish.

  • You got what u deserved. I hope it scalded u. Quit killing are cars. That car was purchased by a proud american. It probablt carried a family, for what, a senceless death

  • "Okay!! I think that did it! That one's fixed!" hahaha

That was pretty funny. Thanks for sharing.

Gotta love how people get all upset about people that make videos like yours without understanding the reason why it has to be done. Look up Cash for Clunkers before you people start your whining. The reason people like this gentleman here post these videos is to show everyone how dumb this program was. Probably could have been a decent car for someone that needed one. Shame.

  • ...and have used their savings or will be in debt long after the car is no longer useable. Low income people fall into this trap not being able to spend their money wisely. It is unfortunate, but it is a fact of life. Nobody can ever sell a used car for what they spend on fixing it, I know from experience of having owned 15 high mileage 'classics' in my life. Total money pits, after all that spending, I still had old cars, nothing more. In the end, junk yard inventory.

  • This car had to be an 86-83 model. Even at 5000 miles per year, it would be well over 100,000 miles, close to the end of its useful life. A dealer would have to spend money to fix it for sale to some extent, and the new owner could be faced with major repairs soon after. If they keep fixing the car, soon they have $4-6k invested in an old car. They keep spending money on it since they have so much invested already, and in the end, never see the full benefit of the money that has been spent.

  • @clarkinthedark1 We are close to the border and many cars and trucks do go over the border.

  • @stvenpawley16 I totally agree with you on that. Many of the cars and trucks would have made good vehicles with some repair or at the very least good parts for a wrecking yard. Don't take our clowning around as approval of the system. We did not have a choice but to perform the engine destruction by the time it got to us. We just made the best of it.

  • No offense to anybody but cash for clunkers is pretty stupid...i mean even if the car is a piece of crap, it can still be fixed...no car should ever be considered junk, any part can be fixed or replaced on any car...people are just to lazy or to damn money hungry to care...

  • @clarkinthedark1 Oh, they are just pissed off to watch stuff get destroyed. You can find people destroying other things too, like game systems, and ignorant kids will be raging there saying "FUCK YOU I COULD HAVE HAD IT".

Most of the time, the people never saw the history of that car. That might have been wrecked or treated like shit (or in the case of some, like the windstar, happened to be plain shit)
