  • OK - so if I have a black cartridge (TN 115), and it is leaking toner out the side, then it must be because it is a defective toner cartridge and not because the non-existent waste container in the cartridge is overflowing.

The cartridge was working perfectly for ~3 months. Any idea why it would suddenly start leaking toner? I can also tap it on a piece of paper and get lots of toner to spill out.

  • @tjmozdzen Sorry for the delay in replying. If the cartridge is leaking out the side, there is either a defect, or the cap is improperly sealed. Brother toner cartridges do not have integrated waste toner compartments.

  • Just to triple check: These cartridge have no waste toner compartment on them. The waste toner bin is at the bottom of the printer, correct?

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • @tjmozdzen Yes, that is correct!

  • I like ur video, but i have a problem with my printer HL 4040CN, a message pops on the LCD screen saying "print unable 32" I have search online to fix it, but cannot fix. I look inside for anypaper stuck, but message keeps poping. Do you have any idea how to fix the problem?? Thanx

  • @yoyelus08 Since your problem does not relate to the toner, it is beyond our area of expertise. You can try the procedure here: welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/eu/eu_ot/en/faq/faq/000000/002500/000055/faq002555_000.html?reg=eu&prod=hl4040cn_all&c=eu_ot&lang=en

  • I thank you so much for this. All three of my color cartridges gave me a low toner message. I know they can't all be out at once. Then I found your video on how to reset the flag. I did it by following your video and it worked. I am so happy to have saved the cost of replacing the cartridges while they still had toner in them. Next I'll try doing the refill process and save even more. Thanks again!!!!!

  • @watermouth007 Yes, this is a good idea to make use of all the old toner. Taping over the optical sensor also works. However, be sure that the compartment is totally clean before filling with new powder to prevent toner contamination.

  • You can try to just reset cartridge first by start from step 5. It works for me. Then you can refill until it REALLY runs out.
