More bad news for the U.S. economy Wednesday. The U.S. Commerce Department reports retail sales dropped 2.7 percent last month, more than double the decline Wall Street had expected. Analysts say the decline in consumer spending is a major factor contributing to the serious economic challenges facing President-elect Obama when he is sworn in as the 44th president next week.
