Heart Like a Wheel (Anna McGarrigle)

Heart like a wheel wasn't my first choice for a song today but it was a request. For those who are interested, Ted has been with me for several years now. I met her in Nelson on the South Island of New Zealand. I was staying in a hostel and across the road I saw her in a charity shop window looking out into the street dampened by rain. I just had to rescue this forlorn looking ted-soul so at 9.00am the next day I was the first one in the shop. She travelled with me all around New Zealand telling me stories of her life and times, ambitions and aspirations, hopes and fears. I would build fires out in the wilderness and we would both sit there drinking in the stillness and beauty of the emptiness. If truth be known, she is not always a great conversationalist although more often than not I sense what she's thinking. The song was a strange request this morning. Maybe she just had a bad night........
