When are they going to get with the program and consider consolidation stations in the area? I have not lived there in 8 years but have seen a lot outside of Broome County that would warrant consolidating stations.

Well when they start failing call after call, then the township will have to step in and I believe the township is obligated to proved fire coverage. Not sure but I believe a township could bill another township if they provided fire service for them. The worse part would be the state stepping in and setting up fire districts.

The county set this program up so that depts could place an "on duty" crew in service to respond as mutual aid to any fire call in the participating depts districts. The reasoning behind the program is to get a truck and crew on the road right away, especially for fires and serious accidents, during the day time hours when departments struggle to fill crews. Department number 99 belongs to the county however the county doesnt own a truck. They respond as Engine 99 instead of pumper-tanker 35-1.

I would think 35-1 is a reserve apparatus thats in service for E99.

Pumper-Tanker 35-1 is our first due rig for Dpet. 35. Engine 99 is just the unit designation we use for the engine when we put it on duty/in service. Any of the Depts involved in the program could put it in service on any given day. Read the info on the video and it explains it a little more.
