My cat has almost the same meow as yours, really quiet and short but uber cute. We thought it was a Maine Coon but I believe she's forest cat as well.

Rolo, our seven year old female, is very strict. First, she meows at you. If that doesn't work, then it's ONE claw gently placed in your cheek. If you cover your face, she'll pull you up by the hair. Yes, she is SERIOUS! If you don't go to bed on time, she'll meow at you until you do. What a cat! Love Maine Coons.

Thanks for all the comments! I'm not sure what Darwin is, really, though he's definitely a mix of some Forrest cat. I thought I was Maine Coon because of his long soft mane and fluffy toes, chripy voice and dog-like demeanor, but upon researching it seems he could be any of forrest cats. He's also pretty tiny, only about 10 lbs! I guess with shelter kitties you never know....
