I'd like to defend "mesinging209" on the following points: 1) She doesn't use dirty language as a crutch. 2) She uses her knowledge of Buchanan's work to make jokes, 3) She doesn't talk too much, and so let's his work "speak" for itself, 4) She doesn't dub in a heavy metal or rap sound track. Thank you "mesinging209!" (Full disclosure: I'm a MST3K fan.)
The worst legacy of the pitiful MST 3K is that made every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there think they are funny when they riff a film. Buchanan's flicks speak for themselves. We don't need painfully unfunny commentary trying to make it funny.
I watched it too last night. As soon as I saw the monster, I had to turn it off.
On another note, wasn't the husband (the couple that ran out of gas) the most sexist and complete douchebag you've ever seen? I wanted to kill him myself.
Thiswas just on the "IFC" (independent film channel) tonight (550 on Directv). I consider myself a fan of bad films (Star Crash, Plan 9, etc.), but this takes awfulness to a whole new dimension. There's not a single shred of redeeming quality film making in this. The goofiest monster, worst lines, worst acting, and most random insertion of Tommy "the shaggy dog" Kirk ever forced upon humanity.
I'm damn glad to have seen this. It's a border-line religious experience of badness.
Today, Tommy Kirk is no longer in the movies and runs his own carpet and upholstery cleaning business. He has been doing it now for 20 years and enjoys living the quiet life.
This was such a bad move. Bad, bad, bad, That's all you can say about it. Why Tommy Kirk would degrade himself by starring in this piece of crap is beyond me.
I think Larry Buchanan was put on this planet just to nauseate us all.
I remember seeing this hokie movie late on a Friday night when I was about 10 years old. It was pretty creepy to me back then but I'd love to see it again just to get a chuckle!
