Bobby Caldwell - Open Your Eyes

Lyrics:

I see you in a lonely place
How can you be so blind
You're still regretting
The love you left, left behind
Oh darling

I've seen you go through the changes
Sitting alone each night
Are you expecting to find the love
Love that's right

Darling open your eyes
Let me show you the light
Girl you'll never find a love that's right

Darling open your eyes
Let me show you the light
Girl you think you're so wise
You're so wise

There are times
When you'll need someone
I will be by your side
I take my chances
Before they pass, pass me by
Oh darling

There is a light that shines
Special for you and me
You need a look at the other side
You'll agree

Darling open your eyes
Let me show you the light
You may never find a love that's right

Alonzo Adams "Never Felt Like This" (painter)

Bio:
Alonzo Adams was born in Harlem in 1961. He spent many hours as a young child drawing. His mother recalls him spending a special day in the city with his father to go shopping. Alonzo's father told him he could buy whatever he wanted. His mother expected him to get some school clothes and shoes or sneakers or something and was quite surprised to see him return with a big smile and only a pack of white paper to draw on.

With over 25 years as a professional artist, Alonzo has garnered numerous awards and accolades. He has been featured in such publications as Art Business News, Black Enterprise, Images, Homes of Color, Upscale, Uptown and ESPN Magazines as well as the New York Times, Star Ledger, Courier News and other regional newspapers.

Alonzo has been blessed to have many prominent collectors adorn their homes with his work. He has also been commissioned to create a number of portraits and other images of personal significance to some of his special collectors.

Alonzo's mentoring activities range from inspirational talks with youngsters in the community to working with aspiring and emerging artists to help them find their own artistic voices and reach potential collectors. His wife Cydnie coaches them on the business aspects of selling their work.

  • I've always loved the hook that was used in Common's "The Light" but never knew who was actually singing it. I had thought for some time it was Curtis Hairston (an all time favorite of mine), not knowing that it was Bobby. Learn something new everyday. I'd only know his hit What You Wont Do.

  • how can i get this fantastic image? tnx

  • Perfect. Wow.

  • Thank you Common and Jdilla

  • I just went on the wikipedia for Bobby Caldwell and it states:

"For R&B and modern jazz fans in the United States, he retains the title of: "The white guy most often mistaken for an African American vocalist." lol

  • one of very few examples of original and sampled versions both being amazing

  • 2 people need to open their eyes.

  • Wow I love tracing back samples and hearing them in their true light. Common did a great job with this though.

  • Omg I thought this was stevie wonder! Heard it on stylah ft lowkey, then common.
