This is not the California you might envision when someone says'California.'
Beautiful and rugged with clean air, great roads, not much traffic and wildlife.

  • Is this the 101? Because it's so beautiful!! I would like to go on this section of the 101 someday. My dad said that he was on this section of the 101 in the 1980s and he is right about saying that it's beautiful. I used to live in California until 1999 but never been north of San Francisco. Now I live in New Jersey. However, my family used to go back and forth between Santa Barbara County and Los Angeles frequently.

  • It is stunningly beautiful! Along this route - so many incredible places, the seal caves, the little fishing towns, the beaches, the sand dunes and then just before you enter the redwoods, the elk! We can't wait to go back.

  • yep, in fact one of the road signs said Meyers Flat and Crescent City. But it was beyond that. Where we stopped to film the Elk was near a place called Elk Meadow.

  • best amazing road

i hope viset california one day befor i ll diea

  • it's amazing *-*

  • @klsallinen I have been lucky to work all over the state, and in all 50 states. Downstate has some very nice places, and more hustle and bustle then anything north of SF or Sac. With that said, i have never seen a single place in the whole country thats close to as magical as the North Coast. Towns may need some love, but its almost like your drove through a portal to 'middle earth'

  • Why the fight about which part of California is superior? It's a silly discussion. All of California is beautiful, I love LA as much as I love Northern California. And LA is so much more than beaches...

  • @diehardoaklandfan510 They sure don't know what they are missing. Northern and I mean Northern California above Ukiah to the west and up to the Oregon border is the most beautiful part of the state..

  • @xXCrimsonVirtueXx Thats singing trees treatment ctr. Right?

  • @ 1:23 is singing trees drug and alcohol treatment fac. The most coolest recovery ctr. in usa.

  • 1:15 I used to work at the Chimney Tree (:

  • Yes, this is Highway 101 and on this section, you are right beside the Eel River, the only river that runs north in the US. The mouth is at Ferndale, a very beautiful little town. I remember the flood in 1964 coming up to the belly of the Ferndale bridge. It's a two lane bridge across the Eel River. Parts of 101 were washed out, of course. You really need to follow 101 to Crescent City. Breathtaking!!!

  • @karlykiscool You must be close to Eureka/Arcata area. I used to live in the central coast of California until 1999 and I really miss it. I took a trip to California in summer 2010 (and was, of course, never willing to leave) and starting the trip in LA, I flew from LAX to Arcata-Eureka Airport the next day, rented a car and drove back to LA. I agree that it is so beautiful. I miss the nice ocean mists and scenery of California
