On February 1, 2008 an ice storm hit Charlottesville and encased much of the surrounding mountains in a half inch of ice. In the afternoon the sun came out and melted the ice at an incredible rate until the fog and rain rolled right back in.

Back in October of 2006 a freak ice storm hit Western Ny - like the Buffalo area. You should check out the videos on that. It knocked out electricity for days for thousands of people, including me!
