Got my new HD4870x2 yesterday and gave it a run in Crysis all on Very High @ 1680x1050 4xAA Vsync ON.
Running:
Vista 64
Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz
4Gig DDR2 800 Corsair @ 900Mhz
Abit X38Quad-GT
Sapphire HD4870x2 2gig DDR5 stock speed
Catalyst 8.8 Beta

Not the best quality, but gives a good idea of performance.

Enjoy !!

  • that much quality???

and it seems you're getting a very high FPS average...!!!

FFS!!! and I can't even play combat arms with that smoothness.

btw how much frames per second are you actually getting there?

and how much did you spend in your pc totally?

  • Average FPS is around 35. I have no idea how much i have spent as i am constantly changing things.. but as a rough estimate i would have to say around $2000 australian. Full specs as it stands : Abit iX38-QuadGT Mobo Intell Q6600 running @ 3.4Ghz Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme cooler 4 Gig Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 @ 850 Vista Home Premium 64bit Samsung 300Gig SATA2 drive Cybersport 1000W PSU cheers
  • if my specs are

    -q9550

    -4gigs 1600 ddr3

    - raptor 150 10000 rpm

    -asus striker extreme crossfire supported

    -750 corsair psu

    64 bit vista ulimate

would i be able to play this on a 37 inch sharp 1080p tv?

  • I think it should be ok. But you may have to turn off AA and Vsync

    cheers

  • super rig man, amd i was waiting for them to correct their mistake, maybe next time the cards wont be too hot. hey can i know wats the temps of that monster

  • i am not concerned with temps... not looking at overclocking.. doesn't need it.

But when i had a brief look i think it was sitting on 79 .

  • JFAC rock dude ;)

  • You better could get a Quad core the 4870 X2 is faster then a 280 but if it is working now then it's also good it would have been cheaper to buy a quad core and future proof

  • no 32-bit can only use 4gb ram but thats with GFX too so it subtracks the gfx ram and then u'll get 3gb ;)

  • Also you will get more Frames without v-sync. Vsync is only used to lower FPS if it exceeds the monitors refresh rate causing tears in textures. Also I forgot to mention I did get it working on warhead 4AA at 30-40FPS but it meant maxing out the FAN which was a bitch :(

  • I dont have the 4870x2 anymore it really required a high end quad core or an core 2 extreme. I was getting artifacts in all of my other games my core 2 duo E8400 couldnt handle the dual GPU in 1 card. Ive got a GTX 280 now and its working wonders but thanks for your concern :)

  • Which processor do you have

  • That is not the problem

  • Nice , Very Playable!

  • That's because you're running Vista 32bit, you need 64bit in order for Vista to fully utulize your 4GB of ram. 32Bit can only use 3GB of ram max.

  • I have a

    ATX-700Watt PSU

    Asus P5KC

    4GB DDR2 (800Mhz)

    Sapphire 4870x2

    Vista 32Bit

And I only get 27FPS on 1680x1050 with no AA.
