http://handyzub.de - Idiocracy - Trailer

Idiocracy is a 2006 comedic film, directed by Mike Judge and starring Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph.

The film tells the story of two ordinary people who are taken into a top-secret military hibernation experiment that goes awry, and awaken 500 years in the future. They discover that the world has degenerated into a dystopia where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly stupid human society devoid of individual responsibility or consequences.

2505? 2055 would be more fitting.

It can't be argued that the "races" (they can potentially be defined concretely if not meaningfully) are all equal. Certain traits are almost universally defined as good, and some "races" have those traits in greater frequencies than do others.

But I hardly see this as a justification to preserve racial boundaries. If anything, it suggests that the boundaries ought to be destroyed. The distinctions only condemn individuals and the species as a whole to mindless farce.

Imagine if there were no localized distributions of traits. Imagine if no particular region had a significantly high frequency of any given trait. There would be no basis for nationalism, war, genocide, arbitrary condemnations of the innocent because they are just "some of those people".

What if superficial traits did not correlate with meaningful ones; if you couldn't use physical appearance to probabilistically determine someone's intelligence. There would be no arbitrary judgement, prejudice.

Good traits are good traits. The intelligent, creative, athletic, peaceable, friendly, etc. are just that.

Racial mixing on a large scale doesn't seem particularly harmful to me. It may even be encouraged. The illusion of concrete distinctions is a source of great harm: all massive inequalities and disparities are the origin of human evils. Disparities of wealth, power, intelligence, and other assets lead to abuse, slavery, discrimination, and conflict. They always have.

The distribution of alleles is highly continuous and varies slowly with geographical and environmental displacement. As a result, it's impossible to draw meaningful boundaries between on race and the other.

It could be said that you should just seek to breed with those who are closest to you. But that means you should seek to breed with family members, which has its own obvious repercussions.

I believe somewhat in the utility of eugenics, but not of this pseudo-scientific race-based taxonomy.

Actually, I haven't been able to see any of these replies until this one. I don't think I've checked my inbox. Be more patient.

None of this is new to me. But I can say that while all life is a spectrum, certain boundaries can be clearly defined. Two creatures that can produce fertile offspring are of the same species. The children of two members of the same species are in their species as well.

No such clear distinction can ever be made between races. Genetic differences are quite indistinct.

It's somewhat gratifying when my opponents simply write off my theories as BS without giving any counter-evidence. I'd much prefer mutual enlightenment though.

Blah BS, there's nothing wrong with races getting mixed up. It's not harmful to genes or any other BS like that.
