  • Ive rung up a heavier bell than 9.75 - the 15cwt 9th at ChristChurch, Swindon (went up no problems - just needed a few firm pulls until it double-clappered!)

  • @simonbellringer You need that with all heavy bells though don't you, so the clapper can pick up momentum and doesn't cross as you start to rise

  • It's such a nice bell!!

  • this bell is missing a part as well. few years ago the clapper fell out and landed with the back end sticking up out of the pit. this bell made contact and took a nice chip out. never changed the tone. but I am worried because in the long run it could form a crack, and this is such a good bell.

  • if you pull the rope down all the way at backstroke so that your hands basically touch the floor you are getting a full length pull so you can get it up quicker

  • @ryanoble yea I know. but I wasn't trying to get it up quickly
