John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery (6 March 1923 - 15 June 1968)[1] was an American jazz guitarist. He is generally considered one of the major jazz guitarists, emerging after such seminal figures as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian and influencing countless others, including Pat Martino, George Benson, and Pat Metheny.
I hear Wes in Jimi.

I love the entire album this song is from. Classic era with tasteful strings, not overbearing.

To quote William G. Leavitt: "He had ears like an elephant, and his solos were chord-scale perfect... and he couldn't read a note of music."
I came upon this gem, accidentally, looking for Johnny Hodges recording of this, with Duke's band.
What a treat.
