I'm from that Town in Thailand. Used to get a lot of food stolen by the monkeys.
Next time keep walking. Don't approach them with food, shinny objects, bottled water nor flowers.
Don't even hang any drinks around your backpacks.
And when they confront you... Don't get bitten. They have rabies and some other shit. Either calmly walk away (with confidence) or give away your food.
P.S. they are smarter than you think, they might even wait for you in front of 7-11.
