www.animatlab.com: This video describes the details of the integrate and fire neuron model used in the AnimatLab neuromechanical and biomechanical simulator. The neurons are modeled using a conductance-based, integrate-and-fire approach. Users can define a variety of different spiking and non-spiking chemical synapses, and electrical synapses. They can also use non-spiking neurons connected by electrical synapses to build simple compartmental models. Users can build a neural network using the drag-and-drop GUI interface, and then connect the motor neurons to activate the biomechanical hill muscle models to produce movement in the virtual animal. Sensory systems on the biomechanical model can also be setup to produce current in sensory neurons so the virtual animal can detect its environment and what is happening within its own body.

To learn more about integrate and fire neuron model then please see the animatlab documentation. This complete video describing the integrate and fire neuron model is also directly available on the AnimatLab web site. Free C++ source code of the leaky integrate and fire spiking neuron model is also available for download. (www.animatlab.com)
