There are plenty of holes in the fossil record because NOT EVERY ORGANISM BECOMES A FOSSIL. We only have pieces of the puzzle. You look for "the god of the gaps" you look at the questions science cant answer and say "LOOK! SCIENCE DOESN'T KNOW!, I've proved its god!" Thats just ridiculous...
