When you buy a store-bought young plant, oftentimes you get those Styrofoam beads at the bottom of the soil. I always found that an annoyance, but I plant it with them none the less. I pick out larger chunks if I can. If there is a biodegradable variety, I imagine it's superior to commercial.

I don't know if I like that package peanuts thing. What if you have to replant the container? Do you stir up the packaging peanuts into the soil? Or will you pick them out? I don't like that it doesn't biodegrade and add to the soil. I wonder if you could use cardboard pieces instead?

This is more what I did.

Dear Insightful Nanna,
Love your user name. I was wandering whether it would be possible to use those "bio-packing peanuts" that are made from some sort of vegetable matter. or does it need to be the styrophone variety so they dont degrade?
thanks!

I want to thank you for this video. I live on the 3rd floor in an apartment and have a real sunny back door entrance area. I have love this container. However what would you recommend I put under the container cause it's not going to be outdoors? Again thank you so much for posting

I didn't know u could plant ...herbs all together like that??wont the roots get tangled?

More and more packing peanuts are made from cornstarch so they aren't as detrimental to the environment. When they get wet they turn to mush and start to decompose.

can ya use hexagonal containers?
Yes... any type of container will do.... as long as it is deep enough.
