Thanks :)

My first astrophotography tutorials were quite popular and I had a lot of complaints about them not having sound - so here is one with sound :)

  • Great Work

  • @MelodyPicture

    Thank you.

  • That's amazing work! Easily the best tutorial on processing I have seen yet. How do you like your mount and scope?

  • @TooMuchButtHair

Thanks. I like the setup I have. Works well for deep space and planetary work. I would prefer a beefier mount than the Atlas, but that gets into some big $. The atlas does good when it is hypertuned :)

  • @rankinstudio beefier? Really? The only thing that's even close at that price range is the Celestron CGEM DX. I have a 10 year old Meade LX90 and though I can take decent astro photos, I want to unload it and get something on an EQ mount. The 10" Orion astrograph looks good, but I am not sure about what mount to put it on. Think the Atlas can handle it, a camera, a guide scope and guide cam?

  • @TooMuchButtHair

Yep, Beefier. I am running the orion 10" F4.7 Astrograph on it. It is a heavy scope and with all the accessories it maxes the Atlas out easily. I hypertuned my atlas and got the wide losmandy style doveplate to help, but I would be much happier with a more beefy mount. The Losmandy G11 looks like it would be good for this. Get them used for a decent price, but the gemini system costs a good 1500$ more.

  • Does this software work with Mac?

  • @rankinstudio That answers it, thanks!

  • @Gherzahn

Not sure what you are asking? I shot a set of longer exposures for the faint areas, and a set of short exposures for the core area (as it is way brighter). I stacked the two images separately, I then composite (combine) them into one image using a layer mask so the core area is visible in the faint data. That answer your question?
