@VioIentGoIdFish Probably because it's a gas planet and it wouldn't explode. And even if it were able to explode, the effects it would have on the Death Star and Yavin IV combined would be cataclysmic. And the Death Star takes hours to recharge (go figure in the near future). Besides, why ruin the tension?

@VioIentGoIdFish I think it was a gas planet, not solid, and on the first death star it took hours to recharge the superlaser.

@VioIentGoIdFish laser takes time to recharge, they didn't think the fighters were much threat so the time didn't matter that much to them, international relations are easier the fewer planets you destroy
