At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, Luis Gonzalez learned that, regardless of background, kids are kids. The Club taught Luis to respect and get along with people of different cultures. "Gonzo" went on to become one of just 17 players in Major League Baseball history with at least 2,500 hits, 500 doubles, 350 home runs and 1,000 RBIs. He is best remembered for his Game 7, ninth-inning single in the 2001 World Series. Today, as special assistant to the president and CEO of the Diamondbacks, Luis mentors promising prospective players, helping them prepare for the major leagues.
