I don't think other MC's didn't already know they were using James Brown like crazy.
they knew, fans knew it - parents/fans of James knew it.
It was either sample him, Aretha, or other soul artists.
James was just so funky :-)

loved the song "Something about this". i first heard it at the age of 11 in 1989
i liked this song too, the message in this song was pretty clear and to the point.

I was a MC Rell fan. My brother Shamar use to dance for him in a couple of videos and got to go on tour. This was the golden era just a good time for fresh music. Is it true that he became a New York State Trooper. Either way he made his mark in my Hip-Hop History Book. PEACE to MC RELL!!!
