YouTube has been my secret weapon since I discovered as a white belt that I don't get enough "ice time" to learn my katas in class alone. Although you must always seek out details from your sensei, you can see variability from body forms, styles and slight modifications by watching different karate'ka on YouTube.
Kanazawa videos from the 70s are my personal favorites. Osu!

i think you don't even know what style of karate you practice ... it's different even from shotokan to shotokan much more from goju'ryu, wado-ryu, kyokushinkay! I have been practicing modern shotokan for 4-5 months now. I have been doing this kata since i first stepped foot in that dojo and i can say THIS GUY IS AWESOME! Watch Kanazawa too..awesome..So kid go tell your sensei what you wrote here and ask him politely to KICK YOU in the nuts! HARD!
