Located just a few blocks from Museumplein, Vondelpark and Leidseplein but away from late night activity made this the perfect location for us. With a tram stop in front of the hotel you can be anywhere within Amsterdam quickly.
Check out my vids for a view of Amsterdam in October/November 2009

I just spent 9 days in Amsterdam at the hotel ABBA, great place and the people are wonderful. Just understand it's a discount hotel and relax.
I would not stay there if you're particular or whiny but if you're a mellow type it's perfect. We got a room on the "first" floor which would be the third floor in the US.

I've been to Amsterdam more times than I can count, and I've stayed at many hotels. For the money, you can't beat ABBA....PERIOD. Dutch stairs are more like ladders, and Abba is one of the worse in that department. I have tendinitis in one of my knees, so I have to take the stairs slow! If you're looking for super cheap yet clean and convenient...and can take stairs like you've never encountered in your life unless you know Amsterdam...Abba is a great deal.

Hah! those dutch stairs are pretty darn steep! I miss the 'Dam too. The last time I went was 2002, so it's been a while. My friends are all tired of me bringing out my photo albums, but I can't help it. It's just one of the coolest places on earth.
abba is one of the best. I stayed in the room just next door. they were great. cheers

Yes - the small showers are nice. The average person will burn 10 Kcal getting up there i THINK. I stayed on the other side this last visit and it was just as nice. I miss Amsterdam so much :-(
